Howdy Free Rangers,

The longest shortest year of our lives is winding down, as peacefully as a super nova becomes a black hole. A shocking number of elected officials are play acting at overthrowing a decided federal election, and scorching, as much Earth beneath their retreat as possible, to the singular benefit of spite. Even though there are millions of vaccine doses being released, there are 328 million of us, and it’s going to be a long winter and spring before the collective we are safe from (this version of) the virus. We’re certainly not there yet, but at least for the first time since the chaos began, there seems to be an end in sight. Hang in there.

Two of the top 5 reasons to live in this godforsaken town are the food scene and live music, and I genuinely don’t remember the last time I was able to fully enjoy either. That’s not true. I indulged a few times in outdoor dining in the last few months, and had mixed feelings about it, at the time, and still now. Minutes before lock-down, even before we knew that us booze slingers would be declared essential workers, I attended a tiny concert in one of the nicest lofts in which I’ve ever set foot, and brought along some serious bottles to share. Gary Lucas played a savagely serene solo acoustic set, and for about an hour I completely forgot about the impending zombie apocalypse. I didn’t know if we were all going to die, but this seemed a reasonable last outing, just in case. And thus closed the before times.

Apparently a number of people didn’t receive our last e-mail, so we’ve put that Henry McKenna 10yr deal back up for the week, at $59 per bottle, instead of the usual $89. Click here for the full story: McKenna Deal E-mail

We’ve also put together a holiday sale page, which includes 3 different 6-packs (5 wines + 1 whiskey), each offered at 15% off retail price. Further down the page is a list from which you can mix & match your own 6-pack for a 5% discount, or 12+ bottles for the usual 10% mixed case discount. Please reply here, or give us a call at the shop, if you have any questions.
